SuchNumbers sells US phone numbers once — $20, $40 or $60 — for porting to any US carrier within 30 days. The answers below cover what that means in practice.
Buying
What am I actually buying?
You are buying a US phone number outright, along with the right to transfer it to a carrier of your choice. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. We do not provide calling or texting service — your own carrier does that once the number is ported to them.
What do premium, pattern and vanity mean?
Premium numbers are carrier-premium inventory with any digits, at $20. Pattern numbers end in a repeated pair such as 2323 or 3388, at $40. Vanity numbers end in four identical digits such as 1111 or 8888, at $60. Every price is one-time.
How much does a number cost, and are there recurring fees?
$20 for premium, $40 for pattern, $60 for vanity, paid once at checkout through Stripe. There is no monthly fee, no contract and no port-out fee. Your new carrier may charge its own port-in fee; most major US carriers do not. Full detail on the pricing page.
How is SuchNumbers different from a vanity-number broker or a number-hosting service?
Brokers that sell vanity numbers outright typically list them from about $200 to $500 and up; hosting services charge a monthly fee for as long as the number stays parked. SuchNumbers sells live carrier inventory at a flat one-time price of $20 to $60, with no hosting: you port the number to your own carrier within 30 days.
Can a business buy a number here?
Yes. Businesses buy the same way and port the number to their business phone provider — VoIP platforms accept port-ins like any carrier. Use the business name on the order if the receiving account is in the business's name.
Are these US numbers only?
Yes. Every number sold here is a US number, and it can be ported to any US carrier that accepts port-ins.
Porting
How do I move the number to my own carrier?
Ask the carrier you want to port the number in. In your account you request port-out details, which gives you the account number and a port-out PIN. Hand those to the carrier along with the name on your order. They file the request, we authorise it automatically, and most ports finish within a few business days. Step by step: how porting works.
Which carriers can the number be ported to?
Any US carrier that accepts port-ins — wireless, VoIP or landline. Under FCC local number portability rules the receiving carrier runs the port; it typically completes in one to five business days.
How long do I have to port the number?
30 days from purchase. A number that has not been ported by then goes back to the carrier pool, and the purchase is not refunded.
How does the port-out PIN work?
No PIN exists until you ask for one. When you request port-out details we generate a PIN that stays valid for 20 hours, then it is wiped from the number. You can request a fresh one whenever you need it.
Can I use the number for calls or texts before porting it?
No. While we hold the number it cannot make or receive calls or texts, and it must not be relied on for emergency calling. It becomes usable once the port to your carrier completes.
Does the name on my order matter?
Yes. Give the same name to your new carrier that you used on your order. Carriers match the name on a port request against the current account and reject ports when the two differ.
